Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Reflecting on this past year, I'm deeply struck by the incredible strength inherent in our communities when we unite for the greater good. The Calgary Alliance began with a small group of community leaders who came together because they decided that having families sleep on church floors overnight wasn’t enough. They developed a vision for a broad-based community organizing alliance that could fight for the social change required to build the affordable housing people needed. Years later, it fills me with great joy to see our Alliance mobilizing on the steps of City Hall, speaking before council, and taking smart public action that resulted in the affordable housing strategy being not just passed, but also funded. This strategy will result in 3000 new affordable homes being built in Calgary and has opened up our City to Federal funding that could build up to 35,000 new affordable homes. Our story has shown the power that communities can have when they work together, for our common good. It is a power that will be felt, in the lives of families when they walk into safe and affordable homes, and out of the threat of living on the street. That doesn’t happen by accident. And it’s only done with your help. That the campaign to have more affordable housing was led by citizens from our diverse communities embodies the essence of the Calgary Alliance's mission. Equipping community leaders with the tools to effect change unlocks the collective power for justice and compassion. During this giving season, we invite you to partake in supporting this vital endeavor. Our aim this year is to raise sufficient funds to enable us to develop deeper roots diverse and marginalized communities, broaden our leadership training, and catalyze meaningful action. Your support is pivotal in continuing this impactful journey. Together, we can amplify our efforts, fortify our communities, and usher in positive change.
